Biography
Kazuaki Takabe MD PhD FACS, is the Professor, Alfiero Foundation Chair, and Clinical Chief of Breast Surgery in Department of Surgical Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York. He is the Leader of Breast Service Line and Breast Program of the institute. He has a joint appointment as the Professor of Surgery with Tenure in Department of Surgery, University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the State University of New York. He is also appointed a Liaison Professor at Niigata University, and an Affiliated Professor at Yokohama City University, Tokyo Medical University, and Fukushima Medical University, Japan.
Dr. Takabe received his medical degree from Niigata University, Japan, PhD from Yokohama City University, Japan, Postdoctoral training in the Salk Institute, La Jolla, California, and completed his general surgery residency at the University of California San Diego and a surgical oncology fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Takabe has published more than 320 articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Cancer Cell, Nature Immunology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Hepatology, Cancer Research, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cancers and many others. His current h-index is 61.
Dr. Takabe’s current research interests include cancer research, in silico translational research, cancer immunology, animal models, sphingolipid signaling, and biomarker research.
